Each week for the coming weeks and months, a significant event or intertesting piece of history from the records of SUMC will be highlighted. Placards will also be on permanent display in the church lobby. Following is the tidbit for this week:
In 1940 the Women’s Society for Christian Service (WSCS) served the first weekly Rotary Club dinner. The largest income that year was $14.04 for the dinner, the least $2.00. The photo features Bessie Musser (the Musser Fellowship Hall is named for Bessie) cooking in the old basement kitchen and might not go back as far as 1940!
Welcome to our web site. As you look around, I hope you get a glimpse of the life of the congregation here at Shepherd United Methodist Church.
We are people who worship together, work together, and fellowship together. We take seriously Jesus’ commandments that we are to love God with all that we are and all that we have, and that we are to love our neighbors as we love ourselves. We care for one another, people in our local community and in our world through prayer, service, and mission giving. Empowered by the Holy Spirit, we strive to be the people and faith community God created us to be.
You are invited to join us. If you are passing through and looking for a place to worship, or if you are looking for a more permanent church home, you are welcome here.
Peace and grace,
Pastor Kathy Kursch
