The adult Sunday School group meets in the library/study at 10:45 and ends promptly at 11:30.
We encourage you stop by the Fellowship Hall following the morning service; get a cup of coffee, and join us in the library/study.
We are currently using the advent study, The Redemption of Scrooge. Go from “Bah, Humbug!” to a Blessed Advent and Merry Christmas. Please join us; all are welcome.
Welcome to our web site. As you look around, I hope you get a glimpse of the life of the congregation here at Shepherd United Methodist Church.
We are people who worship together, work together, and fellowship together. We take seriously Jesus’ commandments that we are to love God with all that we are and all that we have, and that we are to love our neighbors as we love ourselves. We care for one another, people in our local community and in our world through prayer, service, and mission giving. Empowered by the Holy Spirit, we strive to be the people and faith community God created us to be.
You are invited to join us. If you are passing through and looking for a place to worship, or if you are looking for a more permanent church home, you are welcome here.
Peace and grace,
Pastor Kathy Kursch
SMORGASBORDS WILL RESUME ON MARCH 23, 2017
On the fourth Thursday of each month, March through October, SUMC hosts a smorgasbord for the community. The menu consists of swiss steak and baked chicken, mashed potatoes, biscuits and gravy, baked beans, vegetable, salad, rolls, and dessert. A donation of $9 per adult is suggested. All are welcome; meals are served beginning at 5 p.m. in the Musser Fellowship Hall at the south end of the church and continue until 6:30.
The Wednesday morning study group is currently studying Adam Hamilton's Not A Silent Night: Mary Looks Back To Bethlehem.
Imagine Jesus from Mary’s point of view—proud of her son, in awe of his gifts and mission, guided by love for him as a person and so much more. In this book, Adam Hamilton begins at the end, with Mary at the crucifixion and resurrection; travels back in time as she witnesses his life and ministry; and ends at the beginning, with the Christ child born in a stable, Mary’s beautiful baby. This year, experience Advent and Christmas with Mary.
The group meets on Wednesday mornings at 10:00 a.m. in the church library.
Classes are informal and open to everyone. This is a great opportunity to question, share and discuss, and to grow and explore with others.
Children, 4 years old to 3rd grade, are invited to leave the service, if they choose, after the Choir presentation to attend a Praise time in the Fellowship hall. This time includes age-appropriate stories, videos, music, and activities. There is also a fully staffed Nursery from 9:15 - 10:45 for children through the age of 3. After the 9:30 worship service, led by Pastor Kathy Kursch, cookies and coffee are served for all in the Fellowship Hall.
